At Tech Concept Hub in Pune, we focus on teaching data analytics and machine learning with real, meaningful projects. One of the key projects our students work on is “Analyzing Air Quality Trend Across Major Cities”, where they study air pollution patterns and build models to predict future air quality levels. This project not only strengthens their technical skills but also helps them understand how data analytics can contribute to solving environmental and public health problems.
What This Project Is All About
In this project, students collect real air quality data from sources like the OpenAQ API or Kaggle air quality datasets. They work with pollution indicators such as PM2.5, CO, and NO₂, gathered on an hourly or daily basis. Students learn how to clean the raw data, remove inconsistencies, and prepare it for analysis—just like they would in real industry projects.
Once the data is ready, students explore how pollution changes across seasons, cities, and weather conditions. They identify pollution spikes, compare urban vs. suburban air quality, and spot patterns related to traffic, climate, or population density. This helps them understand the real reasons behind air pollution and its impact on health and the environment.
Hands-On Tools and Technologies
During this project, students gain practical experience with industry-standard tools and libraries such as:
pandas – for data cleaning and analysis
requests – for fetching air quality data using APIs
matplotlib and plotly – for visualizing pollution trends
scikit-learn – for building predictive machine learning models
These tools help them handle large datasets, create meaningful visualizations, and build models that can forecast Air Quality Index (AQI) levels.
Building Machine Learning Model for Predicting Air Quality
Students apply machine learning techniques such as time-series forecasting and regression modeling to predict future pollution levels. They learn how pollution behaves over time and how factors like weather or traffic contribute to rising or falling AQI levels. This hands-on experience prepares them for real-world roles in environmental analytics, public health research, and data science.
